A Fluorine-19 NMR Study of Some Fluorotitanium(IV) Complexes. III.

Abstract

The stereochemistry of a number of titanium (IV) fluoride complexes has been studied by means of low temperature fluorine-19 nmr. The following systems are examined in this technical report: TiF4--TiBr4--2,6-Dimethylpyridine-N-oxide; TiF4--TiCl4--Dioxane; TiF4--TiCl4--Thioxane; TiF4--TiCl4--Dithiane; TiF4--H2O--Chloroacetonitrile; TiF4--H2O--Methylal; TiF4--TiCl4--H2O--1,2-Dimethoxyethane; TiF4--TiBr4--H2O--1,2-Dimethoxyethane; Structural assignments as well as chemical shift and coupling constant data are presented for each observed complex. In the systems involving water, species containing hydroxyl groups could not be detected although hydrolysis was clearly indicated by the formation of a white precipitate. (Author)
