The Effect of Weathering on the Impact Strength of Nylons.

Abstract

Twelve grades of nylon were exposed at a temperate site. Impact strengths for all materials passed through a maximum at 3-6 months exposure and fell to a value 10-20% BELOW MAXIMUM AFTER 24 MONTHS. Black pigmented materials offered little protection. Thus, for high impact applications out of doors, nylon is not a suitable materials choice. (Author, modified-PL)
