Longitudinal Studies of the Hearing of Trainees: A Feasibility Study.

Abstract

Audiograms were taken from a sample of 462 men during their first week of basic combat training. At the end of advanced individual training, 97 of these men were retested at their original post and 72 were retested at other posts. Thresholds were compared in terms of reliability and statistically significant changes of the sample means. Reliability was greater for men retested at other posts than for men retested at the same post. These results were interpreted in terms of differences between the samples of on-post and off-post testees. (Author)
