Unsteady Density Currents.

Abstract

A theoretical study has been undertaken to develop basic relations allowing theoretical calculations of density current behavior, ascertain the pertinent physical phenomena and their relative importance, develop specific theory allowing solutions, clarify head Froude number questions, and determine the general features of flows on a horizontal surface and a uniform slope. Both two-dimensional and axially symmetric density currents produced by collapse under the influence of gravity are investigated. (Author)
