ASW Attack Displays. An Evaluation of the Effect of Information Integration.

Abstract

Experimental techniques are employed in a comparative evaluation of effectiveness of man/display system concepts. Trends in man/display effectiveness attributable to different levels of data processing and information integration are investigated. Navy tactical displays associated with surface ship antisubmarine attack control are used as the vehicle for investigation. Six tactically important parameters, relating to offensive, defensive and overall performance, are used to measure the effectiveness of the man/display systems. Analyses of subjective factor associated with man/display interactions, based on observation and debriefing of officer subjects, are presented. (Modified author abstract)
