Development of a Pulsed High-Energy Inductive Energy Storage System.

Abstract

The work was concerned with the complete investigation and feasibility demonstration of superconducting inductive energy storage systems capable of producing high power pulses in the 200 microsecs range on a reptitive basis. The system studied was a 100 kJ system. A 15 kJ model system was successfully tested. Also, as part of the program, a complete investigation of switches appropriate for short pulse inductive energy storage systems was made. The investigation led to the preliminary development of a multiple contact high speed switch which was successfully tested in model size. (Modified author abstract)
