Determination of the Integral Water Content of Rain Clouds and Depth of the Rain Layer by SHF Radiometric Method

Abstract

The report describes an experimental work procedure and equipment for determination of integral water content of clouds not providing precipitation, or of clouds with precipitation in the form of rain. The measurements of the radio emission of cloudy atmosphere are conducted on a radiotelescope with an antenna 3 m in diameter, where the SHF-radiometric equipment of ranges 0.8 and 1.35 cm are established.
