Some Preliminary Results of the Numerical Computation of Two Classes of Transonic Interaction Problems.

Abstract

The memorandum discusses two interaction problems: The inviscid transonic flow over a body with a supersonic underexpanded exhaust plume; and the viscous subsonic-transonic flow in the vicinity of a boattailsting. Numerical solutions are obtained using a relaxation procedure for the inviscid transonic flow, a supersonic marching technique for the jet flow field, and Bradshaw's method for the turbulent boundary layer. The interaction is handled iteratively. Several preliminary numerical results are presented. (Author)
