A Multiplexer and Signal Conditioner for Use with Vibration Transducers.

Abstract

The report describes an electronic unit designed to sequentially sample and amplify the outputs of four piezoelectric vibration transducers. Design features include simple adjustment of the sampling rate and scale factor. In addition, by separate external commands the unit can be reset to sample the first transducer and change the system amplification. The unit was developed as part of the instrumentation required to telemeter the results of vibration measurements made on the structure of the Black Arrow satellite launching vehicle, but was not flown before cancellation of the project. The extensive use of integrated circuits in this unit leads to a design readily adaptable for other uses requiring sequential sampling.
