Selected Bioscience Research in Israel, Turkey and Greece,

Abstract

The report involves microbiological research in a few institutions in Greece, Turkey and Israel. Activity was depressed in Athens and Istanbul largely because of lack of funds in both places and political unrest in the former. All of the institutions visited in Israel had significant programs. A few which caught my interest included Dr. Razin's work on mycoplasmal membranes at Hebrew University, Dr. O. Sperling's research on purine metabolism at Beilinson Hospital, Dr. Sela's, Dr. Mozes' and Givol's studies on antibody structure at the Weizmann Institute and Dr. Chari-Briton's research at the Institute for Biologic Research at Ness-Ziona on the membrane effects of hashish.
