The designed calculator, ML-646(XE-1)/UM, is used to compute meteorological balloon altitude; it is the result of trade-offs involving basic measurement accuracies of the ground tracking system, AN/TMQ-19, curvature of the earth corrections, geopotential altitude above surface, refractivity, and pitch and roll of the ground tracking system.
