Matched Filtering Discrimination for Optical Cavity Modes.

Abstract

Matched spatial filters are constructed for various modes of a spherical Fabry-Perot interferometer. The cross-correlation between many of these modes are obtained experimentally as well as theoretically. The orthogonality between various modes are demonstrated and used in order to discriminate against all but the desired mode. The Fabry-Perot interferometer with a zero-order mode filter could be used as a scanning interferometer over a full free range without spurious signal and over a large range of cavity spacings.
