Computer Program for Vibrational Nonequilibrium Effects in Expanding High Enthalpy Reaction Air Flows.

Abstract

The report describes a computer program which couples vibrational relaxation with chemical nonequilibrium in high enthalpy nozzle expansions of reacting air. The program was developed by modifying the Lordi, Mates, and Moselle Cornel Aeronautical Laboratory nonequilibrium chemistry computer code to include the effects of finite rate vibrational equilibration. The program includes the vibrational relaxation of N2, O2, NO, and NO(+). The developed computer program will enhance the theoretical capability in ascertaining the nonequilibrium behavior of high enthalpy reacting air flows. (Author)
