Control of Vectors through Interference with Normal Processes of Insect Physiology, Reproduction and Behavior.

Abstract

The purpose of the program is to develop 'safe' agents for the control of insects of medical importance. Substances which would either create physiological imbalance during insect development stages or profoundly affect insect behavior have been studied. The following areas have been investigated: Insect - plant interactions; chemicals producing teratogenic effects on insects by interacting with insect cuticle; substances showing transient interference with the development of insects; and insect behavior.
