Puzzles in the Demographic and Economic Behavior of Rural Southeast Asians: An Economist's View,

Abstract

A study is made of five anomalies in the economic behavior of certain rural people in Southeast Asia, out of which some hypotheses are derived involving taboos, constraints, family patterns, attitudes toward change, fertility response to income, and community outmigration.
