Research in Point Processes, with Applications in Reliability and Biometry.

Abstract

Following an examination of selected point process problems, stressing biometry and reliability and their interface, the main questions dealt with by point process theory are systematically presented. Then undertaken is a panoramic sketch of the theory--its probabilistic, statistical and model-building aspects. On the basis of the practical and theoretical orientation thus provided, some directions for further research in point process theory are suggested. (Author)
