On the Construction of Minimum Bandwidth Functions from Discrete Data.

Abstract

A solution is obtained, in the form of an extension of an appropriate L-spline, to the problem of constructing from discrete data a smooth complex-valued function g on a bounded interval of the real line so that the mean-square bandwidth or a generalized bandwidth of g is minimized, subject to an energy constraint.
