Effect of LET on the Ceric/Cupric G-Value.
Abstract
The G(Ce(3+)) value of a 1 millimolar solution of ceric sulfate in a 100 millimolar solution of cupric sulfate in 0.4 molar H2SO4 was investigated. This quantity was measured for radiation of varying quality. The radiation sources included protons, alpha particles and cobalt-60 gamma rays. The ceric/cupric solution was found to be sensitive to impurities, but in general could be managed. Results indicate that all glass systems are necessary for best results. (Modified author abstract)
