An Analysis of Assignment Techniques and Predictor Variables Utilized by the U.S. Marine Corps Ground Officer Assignment Section.

Abstract

The assignment of Marine Corps officers to varying duties during a military career is a process of selection. The factors involved in this selection make up the predictor variables pertinent to the assignment. This study discusses the general techniques of officer assignment, and specifically analyzes the predictor variable established by evaluating the performance record. Comparison is made with a system that numerically represents fitness-report contents by a single value which becomes the record-evaluation predictor variable. (Author)
