Elastic-Plastic Analysis of Unidirectional Composite Under Longitudinal Shear.

Abstract

The failure point of a unidirectional composite subjected to longitudinal shear loading is calculated. The method of analysis is based on the finite element technique, the incremental plasticity relations of Prandtl-Reuss, and the von Mises yield criterion. The failure point for a boron-aluminum composite and a boron-epoxy composite are computed to determine the effect of the matrix material on the composite. (Author-PL)
