Use of Pattern Analysis for Predicting Heroin Dependency.

Abstract

The objective of the thesis was to apply and verify pattern analysis as an effective statistical tool in solving a practical problem, to gain insight into the historical/biographical factors that may be used to predict heroin dependency. A thiry-six item questionnaire, developed from research into the background of heroin addicts, and to students at junior colleges in the San Francisco and Monterey Bay areas. Their responses were then fed into a validation and cross-validation program based on pattern analysis. (Modified author abstract)
