Carborane Polymers.

Abstract

Several new families of substituted DEXSIL (carborane) polymers are prepared in the course of efforts directed toward the development of solvent resistant elastomers; polymers for leaving group studies (RTV ELASTOMERS); and high molecular weight DEXSIL 300 gumstock. In addition, a new synthetic pathway is developed and its general utility is demonstrated by the synthesis of a wide variety of structurally modified polymers using only dianilido silanes and standard DEXSIL monomers.
