Device for the Supplying of Compressed Air to Models in Wind Tunnels,

Abstract

The invention relates to the area of experimental aerodynamics. Devices which are used for supplying compressed air to models in wind tunnels with mechanical balances and a flexible suspension include a receptable, pipelines, a strut, and an intramodel hinged assembly for the separation of air. However, in such devices large friction forces develop. The proposed device differs from the known ones in that the pipeline on the sector from the receptacle to the strut is made of a combination of identical hinged assemblies consisting of races, rotating coaxially relatively to one another, with an end labyrinth seal for the radial exhaust of scoured air; and the intramodel hinged assembly consists of a strut and housing, turning relative to each other.
