Fault Tree Analysis as a Managerial Tool for Production Loss Control,

Abstract

The objective of the paper was to show that fault tree analysis is a technique which can be useful to management in analyzing production systems. The fault tree was demonstrated to be a valuable means for gaining the information necessary to reduce the likelihood of a financial loss resulting from the occurrence of an undesired event. It was shown that there is a good reason to take fault tree analysis out of its systems safety context and to place it also into the area of production analysis where it can be utilized as a tool for controlling losses due to production interruptions.
