Automated Production.
Abstract
The paper is intended to be the first in a series dealing with automated production and inspection systems. It develops the concept of a multilevel production and inspection system employing a hierarchical control configuration. Some of the system requirements and features discussed are hardware, software, inspection, quality control, adaptation, modeling and failure diagnosis. The paper also includes suggestions for future research to aid in the exploration of the ideas and concepts developed herein. (Author)
