Features of the Effect of Aluminum on Mechanical Properties of Titanium,

Abstract

The significant change in mechanical properties of the titanium and alpha-alloys upon the introduction of aluminum evidently occurs not only because of the elastic distortions introduced by the aluminum atoms in the titanium lattice, but also because of the appearance of a second phase. The heterogeneity of the aluminum distribution turns out to be very stable and is not removed during prolonged homogenizing annealing.
