Long-Range Correlations in Kinetic Theory,

Abstract

It is shown that macroscopic correlations in a fluid are conserved for macroscoptically long times. The equations of conservation can be written in a form independent of the density of the fluid and are therefore valid for a liquid as well as a gas. For the purpose of describing correlations in a rarefied gas, a generalization of the Boltzmann equation is suggested which not only gives the correct macroscopic correlation equations but satisfies certain compatibility criteria.
