A Guide for Selecting High-Value Capacitors for Fuze Applications,

Abstract

IC CAPACITORS, ELECTROLYTESGuidelines were established to facilitate the selection of high-value capacitors for ordnance fuzing and other military applications. Background information has been compiled on the electrical and physical properties of ceramic capacitors rated to 10 microfarads and electrolytic capacitors rated in thousands of microfarads, either of which is also available in ratings below one microfarad. Standard dc working voltages range from 25 to 1000 volts for the ceramics and from 6 to 600 volts for the electrolytics. Since the report is concerned primarily with fuzing applications, only the high-K ceramic and tantalum dielectric capacitors are discussed in any detail. The high-voltage ceramics and aluminum electrolytics are included mainly for comparison. (Author)
