Description of Point Mass and Three Degree of Freedom Trajectory Programs.

Abstract

DA-1-M-262303-A-214(*guided missile trajectories, *computer programs), (*rocket trajectories, computer programs), equations of motion, drag, thrust, digital computersbasic programming language, hp 9830 computers, degrees of freedom, three degrees of freedom, two degrees of freedomThe report describes two Basic language programs written for the Hewlett Packard Model 9830 digital computer. The first program described computes a 2-degree of freedom or point mass trajectory for a rocket which may have a boost, sustain, and coast phase. The second program has 3 degrees of freedom: range, altitude, and pitch angle. A flat earth is assumed and atmospheric properties vary with altitude. Two constant thrust levels and up to three drag tables may be used. The output data may be tabulated and/or plotted on the HP 9802A calculator plotter. A Basic listing of the programs and sample outputs are included in the report. (Author)
