Breaking Ice with a Jet of Gas (Razrushenie lda Reaktivnoi Gazovoi Struei),

Abstract

Thermodynamic methods are currently being applied successfully in industry for breaking rocks. These same methods have been examined for breaking ice. However, for large scale operations the use of a gas jet does not appear promising because of the large amount of energy required to melt ice. (Author)
