Studies in Low Speed Flight.

Abstract

A model helicopter hovering flight test facility is briefly described and the results of the study to date are summarized. The objective is to design, construct, and validate a facility which would closely simulate free still-air conditions in a relatively small confined space. Tests in a one-quarter scale prototype using model airplane propellers successfully demonstrated the basic concept. Results obtained in the larger facility are encouraging and the tests will continue. (Author)
