A Syntax-Directed Method for Operating System Design.

Abstract

It is proposed that an operating system be considered to be a collection of hardware and software translators. These translators accept as inputs messages in formally defined message languages. Among its outputs, a translator may produce output messages for input to other system translators. (Author)
