Studies in Beam-Foil Spectroscopy.

Abstract

The report descusses research in beam-foil spectroscopy. Specific illustrations are given of the contributions the project made to the excitation of spectral lines, the construction of energy-level diagrams, the measurements of level mean lives and Lande g-values, production of soft x-rays, Stark and Zeeman effects, applications to astrophysics, technical improvements, and the stimulation of beam-foil and related research in other laboratories. Both experimental and theoretical advances are summarized. (Modified author abstract)
