The Investigation of the Parameters of Gas Jets for the Atomization of Melts,

Abstract

The use of supersonic high temperature gas jets for the atomization of liquid metals and melts is promising since it permits one to change the parameters of the working medium in a wide range and thereby obtain powders with prescribed properties. In order to investigate the basic factors which affect the gas jet parameters with the aid thermodynamic calculations the basic theoretical relationships of the gas temperatures in the combustion chamber, the density at nozzle section and the dynamic viscosity are established as functions of the pressure in the combustion chamber and the excess air ratio.
