An Examination of the Impact of a Multi-Indenture Approach to the Single Item Repair Level Decision Problem.

Abstract

The study was oriented toward investigating various repair level decision techniques. The approaches used so far can be categorized by the manner in which they represent the hardware being evaluated and the supporting logistics system: Single item, single indenture, multiple maintenance echelon models. Single item, multiple indenture, multiple maintenance echelon models. Multiple item, multiple identure, multiple maintenance echelon models. The models which have been almost entirely represented by the first category. It was believed that a problem could exist in using this approach to evaluate multi-indenture hardware items since such a method fails to consider the cost implications of all decision alternatives.
