A Computer-Integrated Video-Display System for Environmental Information.

Abstract

The display should: Provide for the receipt, compact storage, and high resolution display of a large volume of information, including: conventional maps and graphic products, computer products, alphanumerical data, satellite products, radar observations, and operator/user generated information; Permit rapid, random-access retrieval of the stored information; Provide simultaneous and/or superimposed displays of different forms of information, in both black and white and color; Provide animated display of information; Allow manipulation of the stored information to perform operations such as changing the projection and/or scale of weather maps and cloud pictures from satellites, and calculations of various environmental parameters, and Provide a working surface with capability to measure displays, velocities and/or changes of weather features, and the capability to input information at the local level.
