The Mechanism of the Action of Salts during the Synthesis of Aromatic Polyamides in Amide Salt System,

Abstract

The authors study the interaction of the salts of metals (LiCl, LiBr, LiNO3, LiSCN, MgCl2, AlCl3, SrCl2, ZnCl2, CdCl2, and also HCl) with benzanilide C6H5COHNC6H5, taken as a model of an aromatic polyamide, poly-p-phenyleneterephthalamide (PPTP) in a solution of DMAC. The results obtained are compared with data on the synthesis of this polymer in the presence of the same salts.
