Investigation of Boundary Crossing in Partitioned Information Systems.

Abstract

Previously reported work, summarized in appendix 2 of the present document, uses a general system model consisting of control units and passive units. These units could be instructions and data in computer systems, for example, or information processing modules and files in data management systems. The research described here is concerned with use of the boundary crossing model in analyzing the behavior of paged computer systems. In particular, findings are related to and contrasted with results from the theory of working sets developed by Denning. (Author)
