Retrieval Program for Archival Nansen-Cast Data,

Abstract

A program has been written in Fortran and Compass for the retrieval of environmental data from a compacted version of the National Oceanographic Data Center tapes. The tape file currently contains the results of approximately 361,000 Nansen casts. Each cast (or station) has such data as sound speed, temperature, and salinity recorded at various depths. The information retrieval program has five modes of operation to serve a variety of user needs. This report includes a complete description of the program, explains the five modes, and gives examples of each. (Author)
