Abstract

The report is a summary of the discussion presented at a symposium on x-ray lasers held in Washington, D.C., on 29 May 1973. The consensus reached is that (1) x-ray lasers in the 1 kev range are possible with existing technology, (2) well defined experiments are lacking, and (3) there are large areas of application in particular areas related to materials sciences.
