Focal-12 Programs for Computation of Cardiac Output Using the Dye Dilution Technic.

Abstract

The real time computation of cardiac output using dye dilution technics (Stewart-Hamilton method) is programmed on a PDP-12/30 computer. The effects of recirculation are avoided by extrapolation of the early downslope. Linear regression of the logarithms of the concentration is used to estimate this extrapolation. The associated correlation coefficient gives a measure of how well the downslope is described by an exponential function. The program is written in FOCAL-12 language and the output is printed on the teletype. (Author)
