The Synthesis of Substituted Aminoguanidines as Potential Anticarcinogenic Agents,

Abstract

The purpose of this project was to prepare cancer, chemotherapeutic, agents. Interest was focused on the guanindine structure, and various nitro- and nitroso- derivatives of 1-Methyl-1-nitroso-3-nitroguanidine were either prepared or attempted. Attempts were made, with limited success, at preparing derivatives of the following compound: Methyl GAG. A general description of the cancer problem has been made, as well as a brief presentation on the field of chemotherapy. A discussion of experimental methods employed, problems encountered, and results achieved has been presented. (Modified author abstract)
