Packaging of Oil in Plastic Pouches.

Abstract

The use of one-quart plastic pouches as an alternative to metal cans for packaging oils and lubricants for Air Force use was investigated. The program involved the testing of oil cases, individual quart containers, and plastic films for pouches. For comparison, one-quart metal cans were tested simultaneously since this is the present method of packaging used by the Air Force. Results of the test program indicate that the plastic pouches of oil will provide performance similar to that of metal cans but at a cost savings of 3 -4 cents per quart. (Author, modified-PL)
