Experimental Study of Boundary Layer on Specimens Being Destroyed under the Combined Action of Convective and Radiant Heat Fluxes,

Abstract

Presented is the radiation spectrum of the vapors of a boundary layer in the 3800-6600 A range from a specimen of asbestos plastic in a flow of air plasma produced by an electrodeless high-frequency discharge. The temperature profile in the boundary layer near the critical point is measured. A model of the boundary layer on the destroyed specimen is proposed and the convective component of the heat flux toward it is estimated.
