Leadership Instruction for Infantry Officer Candidates: Terminal Training Objectives

Abstract

The final report is made of a research effort designed to assist in the systems engineering of the Infantry Officer Candidate (OC) leadership program. Previous efforts resulted in a list of leadership tasks that represent the critical job requirements that OC graduates are called upon to fulfill. The training analysis portion of the systems engineering methodology concerns the possibility that the statement of the tasks may be too broad and complex for adequate, effective training. Leadership experts at HumRRO converted the job task statement into a number of component subtasks. An extensive use was made of technical literature concerning leadership theory and practice. 15 terminal training objectives were developed.
