Research in On-Line Computation and Computer Network Development.

Abstract

During the two years of the project, CSL researchers worked to develop overall ARPANET resources for the betterment of user-Network relations. The goal being to make services more 'friendly' and readily available. This work included the implementation of new services at UCSB; the experimentation with, and development of new protocols for transferring files, supplying of graphics for display, and Remote Job Service. While the project proceeded, the staff was able to demonstrate the use of the Network in new areas of resource sharing. The work continues to include direct assistance to many other sites in helping to implement Host-to-Network software and hardware, sites in helping to implement Host-to-Network software and hardware, and in joint investigation of techniques to make new resources and services available.
