Behavior of Stiffened Plates. Volume 2. Optimum Design

Abstract

An optimization study of various configurations of orthogonally stiffened plates is carried out and the relative efficiencies, from the standpoint of minimum weight, are generated for sandwich, integrally stiffened, and externally stiffened rectangular plates under compressive loads. An attempt is made, from the minimal amount of data available, to introduce minimum cost as a parameter for optimum design.
