Broadband Antenna Systems Realized from Active Circuit Conjugate Impedance Matching

Abstract

The application of negative impedance converter circuits for use in extremely broadband antenna systems is proposed. The theory of short antennaes, and means of achieving a conjugate impedance match to them, is discussed. Synthesis methods that yield the required converters, uncompensated or compensated, are presented. Lastly, the performance of several of the constructed antenna systems are compared with that of a 12 foot whip.
