Microprogrammed Disc Controllers.

Abstract

Disc controllers, the concepts of microprogramming, and the combination of the two are presented. First, the conventional controller is discussed and a model developed. Logic for the model is then replaced by microprogramming to form a new model. Finally, the new version is modified to handle extended logic. The functions, structure, and relative merits of the three models are discussed, as well as suggestions for further work. (Author)
