Laboratory Evaluation of a Sample of Fuel Vapor Detectors for Recreational Boats

Abstract

The report describes the performance testing and evaluation of five different commercially available fuel vapor detectors. All five instruments were subjected to temperature, humidity, shock, and vibration tests which simulated extreme working environments when installed in a small recreational boat. At the conclusion of each test a performance check was run to assess the effects of the test on the detector. Each detector was also inspected for any physical damage which would have an adverse effect upon its performance.
